As a Rivington Hall Barn wedding photographer, you quickly learn that weddings here always have a bit of magic about them - whatever the weather decides to do.

Rachel and Darren’s wedding on the 20th September 2025 was a perfect example of that. The rain fell steadily from morning until evening without even the briefest break, but the atmosphere throughout the day was warm, joyful and full of laughter.

And in the end, the rain became part of the story.

A Rainy Morning at Rivington Hall Barn

Rachel spent the morning getting ready surrounded by her closest friends and family, with the steady sound of rain outside the windows setting the scene for the day ahead.

Despite the weather, there was such a calm and happy energy in the room as hair and makeup finished, dresses were fastened and everyone gathered for those final moments before the ceremony.

Sometimes the quiet anticipation of a rainy morning makes everything feel even more special.

A Beautiful Ceremony at Rivington Hall Barn

Guests arrived with umbrellas in hand as the rain continued to fall, but inside the barn the atmosphere was warm and full of excitement.

Rachel and Darren’s ceremony was heartfelt and emotional, with plenty of smiles and laughter from their guests as they exchanged vows surrounded by the people closest to them.

By the time they walked back down the aisle together as newlyweds, the weather outside didn’t seem to matter at all.

Portraits in the Bridal Prep House

With the rain showing no sign of easing throughout the day, Rachel and Darren embraced a different approach for their couple portraits.

Instead of heading outside, we used the beautiful house where Rachel had got ready earlier in the day. The large windows filled the rooms with soft natural light, creating the perfect setting for relaxed portraits together.

Sometimes unexpected moments like this end up creating some of the most intimate photographs of the day — quiet moments away from the celebrations while everything else continues around you.

An Evening Full of Celebration

As the evening began, the celebrations inside Rivington Hall Barn continued with speeches, laughter and plenty of dancing.

One of the highlights of the evening was Rachel and Darren’s first dance, when guests gathered around them for a confetti drop, filling the room with colour and energy as they danced together.

It was the perfect joyful moment to end a day that had been full of love, laughter and the kind of atmosphere that makes weddings unforgettable - rain or shine.
