It was an absolute joy to be chosen to be a Ridgmont House wedding photographer! The gardens are a perfect setting for wedding photographs, with impressive trees, including an 800-year-old beech with a huge trunk. Koi carp float gently in a water lily pond and there is a charming cottage garden bursting with typical English flowers and a dovecote.

Jenny & Phill’s Wedding Photography
My style of photography is relaxed and natural so when I got to work with the fabulous Jenny and Phill at Ridgmont House, I was thrilled.
Jenny and Phill were the lucky winners of my ‘win your wedding photography’ collaboration with “Your Manchester Wedding” magazine, and they wanted a low key, relaxed day which they shared with all of their favourite people.
The bride got ready at home, while the Groomsmen went for a few beverages at the fabulous Victoria Inn (Fanny’s) in Bolton prior to their ceremony at Christ Church Heaton.
It was such a brilliant wedding reception at Ridgmont House. The speeches were hilarious as you can see from the guest’s reactions! It was a joy to spend the day with Jenny and Phill as their Ridgmont House wedding photographer. Here are some of my favourite photographs…
Thank you to these wonderful supplies for making the day fabulous:
I absolutely adore being chosen as a Rivington Barn wedding photographer. The barn dates back to the Saxon era and still has its impressive original beams.
In 1953 Bill & Rhoda Salmon moved into the Hall. The Barns had been empty since World War II and after refurbishment it became a venue for all types of events, and has continued to do so ever since.
The Salmon Family are responsible for everything that happens at Rivington Hall Barn, and maintain a family run ethos who take pride in offering a welcoming and friendly service.

Laura & Nick’s Rivington Hall Barn Wedding
I love photographing weddings at Rivington Hall Barn. It’s one of my absolute favourite venues so I was really looking forward to Laura & Nick’s big day.
The day started off at Laura’s mum and dad’s house for the preparations. The sun was shining and the bridesmaids were enjoying Prosecco in the summer house. Kirstie did Laura’s hair which was nice because I photographed her wedding at Red Hall in Bury a couple of years earlier and she is lovely.
Laura looked incredible in her wedding gown.
The couple had their wedding at their local church. One of my favourite moments was when Nick saw Laura walking down the aisle. He cried his eyes out. There was a tense moment during the ceremony where Nick struggled to get the ring onto Laura’s finger, but the couple took it well.
Wedding Reception at Rivington Hall Barn
After the ceremony we headed to Rivington Hall Barn, with the sun shining brightly, guests enjoyed canapés and bubbly on the terrace with the resident peacock and Laura, Nick and I went for a little walk around the grounds.
I found a beautiful cherry blossom tree which had branches in the shape of a circle so I took a picture of them in the middle of it. It framed them perfectly and they looked so happy.
The speeches were hilarious as you can see from the photos. After such a gorgeous day we stole 10 minutes at sunset before the evening guests arrived for a little dance in the field and the photos were beautiful.
Nothing though was more beautiful than they way they looked at each other.
Here’s their story…enjoy!

When I first met up with Charlotte and Paul to discuss their big day, I secretly had everything crossed that they would choose me to be their Bolton School Photographer. They were really cute together and we got along like a house on fire.
I absolutely love photographing weddings at Bolton School. It’s one of my favourite venues, and it’s where I shot my very first wedding back in 2012. It also brings back fond memories as I used to play hockey matches there when I was at school.
Set in 32 acres of grounds with origins dating back to 1516, Bolton School is one of Lancashire’s oldest and finest venues. The Grade ll listed building encompasses all of your needs, providing you with a unique atmosphere for your special day. It is absolutely wonderful for photographs with many different backdrops around the campus!

Charlotte & Paul’s Wedding
The day started at Charlotte and Paul’s house in Stockport where the girls were getting ready. One of Charlotte’s bridesmaids had travelled all the way from Oz to be there which was lovely. Charlotte was really relaxed and looked beautiful in her gown.
We headed to their local church for the ceremony. In true Charlotte style she kept Paul waiting for nearly an hour at the church! I think a lot of grooms would have been a little nervous by that point, even the priest looked a little on edge… but not Paul. He took it in his stride and kept smiling. I loved how his face kept lighting up as more of their friends and family walked through the door.
Wedding Reception at Bolton School
After the ceremony, Charlotte and Paul took at VW camper van up to Bolton School, where everyone enjoyed Prosecco and canapés on the terrace. Due to the slight delay pre ceremony we weren’t able to fit in our couples photos before the wedding breakfast, but we snook off for half an hour at the end of the meal before the evening guests arrived. The speeches were possibly some of the funniest I’ve ever heard as you can see from the photos. At one point the priest (who was seated at the top table) snorted some wine out of his nose he was laughing so hard.
I absolutely love Bolton School for wedding photos. Around every corner there is some fabulous architecture, or some beautiful grounds to make use of, and there is very little walking involved between the different locations.
It was a very relaxed, fun day and an absolute joy to photograph these lovely people.
A very lovely thank you message
When they received their photographs they sent a wonderful email as follows which made me very happy.
“We feel incredibly lucky to have found Rebecca. Even more so, grateful for the lasting memories that she has been able to capture for us on the most special day of our lives.
From the first meeting, Rebecca was highly professional yet warm and approachable. We genuinely didn’t feel at any point that we were hiring a photographer; we felt like we had a very talented friend with a camera willing to take snaps of our day.
Our guests couldn’t believe her discretion and we can’t believe the shots that she managed to get. All without being obtrusive or making any of our guests feel like they were ‘having’ to have their picture taken.
She fully immersed herself in the celebrations, smiling and making friends as she went on her merry way.
Bolton School Wedding Photographer
When we were looking for our perfect photographer, I’m sure many people have felt the same anxieties we had. We were camera shy and the idea of posing all day… no thank you!! Rebecca’s style is very natural and she told the story of our day.
To try and help us relax, we also had a pre-wedding shoot; this was very useful for us as it helped myself and Paul feel more comfortable in front of the camera.
Again, any anxieties about pictures were completely dispelled when we received the engagement prints before the wedding. We couldn’t wait to have her shoot our day.
When our beautifully presented memory stick arrived, we were greeted with an additional treat. A video montage of some of our photographs. We felt very lucky to be able to live our day again – over and over and over. A wonderful and completely unexpected touch – to the song of our first dance.
We have shared our album with family and friends and they love the photographs as much as we do. We feel blessed that Rebecca managed to capture the day that we remember so fondly whilst helping us to live and re-live those parts of the day that whizz by in a haze.
A true talent and I hope that we’ll be able to use the services of Rebecca Jones Photography in our future years to come.
Thank you so much for having me you lovely pair…here are some of my favourites…
